Winter Women’s Bible Studies Women’s Bible studies began this week and ladies are invited to come even if you missed the first week. Details of the studies are in the women’s newsletter, copies of which are available at the Welcome Centre, and on the church website.
Sonshiners The first seniors event of 2018 will take place this Thursday, January 18th at 10:30 a.m. All those 55 years and older are welcome to attend this event, which will feature Rachel from North Lambton Community Health Centre sharing on healthy eating for seniors, Herman Naus as the speaker, and Amanda McGuire with special music. All this will be followed by a hot meal at noon. The cost is $7 per person. Please sign up today.
Child Celebration Service A child celebration service is coming up next Sunday, January 21st. This is a time when parents of little ones are given an opportunity to publicly declare their desire to raise their children in the ways of the Lord. Parents who wish to participate in this service are asked to contact the church office today if you haven’t already.
Marriage Matters Conference We have invited Dr. Rick & Linda Reed to lead a Marriage Conference here at Peoples Church on Saturday, February 3rd and Dr. Reed will also teach the EXALT class and preach on Sunday, February 4th. Saturday evening will begin with the first session at 4:00 p.m. followed by dinner and more sessions. We encourage you to plan for a date night and take advantage of an opportunity to strengthen your marriage. Please sign up as we need to know how much food and how many handouts to prepare.
Annual Meeting On Tuesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. we will be holding our Annual Meeting. All stewards, members, and regular adherents of Peoples Church are encouraged to attend.
Busy Hands The Busy Hands group meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month to make quilts for those in need around the world. We will be meeting on Thursday, January 25th. The day begins at 9:00 a.m., but come when you can and leave when you must. Please remember to bring a bagged lunch.
Gospel Coalition Women’s Conference A group of women from Peoples Church will be attending this conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 14-16. There is an information sheet at the Welcome Centre with the details. In order for us to arrange transportation (at no cost to you), the registration deadline for ladies who wish to travel with our group is February 4th. Speak to Helena or Beth Ann to let us know if you will be attending.
Men’s Prayer Breakfast All men are encouraged to attend our prayer breakfast on Saturday, January 27th. Please note that this is NOT the first Saturday of February. A hot meal will be served at 8:00 a.m. Pastor Kevin will be speaking and there will be a time of worship in song, prayer, and fellowship.
AWANA Snow Camp AWANA Snow Camp will be taking place February 23-25 at Lambton Centre. Clubbers ages 8-12 are invited to attend. Registration forms have been sent home (copies available at Welcome Centre) and the registration and payment deadline is February 14th. Be sure to get your forms in on time to reserve a space.
Winter Weather & Church Cancelations Winter weather has arrived and there may be times when church events or services will be canceled because of concerns for your safety on the roads. In the event of a cancelation, the church website will be the first place for you to check for updates. When possible, a church-wide email will be sent out. The church Facebook page will also be updated. When in doubt, please check online or call before heading out.
Salt Boxes Brown salt bins are located near all the church entrances. If you notice ice on a walkway, please take the initiative to spread some salt on the area to help keep everyone safe this winter.
Together for the Gospel 2018 “Distinct from the World” is the theme of the T4G conference coming up next April in Louisville, Kentucky. Registration is now open. To find out more about this event, visit www.T4G.org.
Lost and Found The collection of items in the Lost & Found continues to grow. Please take a look for items that may belong to you or your children. There are coats, sweaters, dishes, and a large collection of Bibles.
