Announcements 2018.10.07

Baby Bottle Campaign The Baby Bottle Campaign is now wrapping up for the year. Please return your bottles and envelopes, full or empty, to the office as soon as possible so we can pass them along to the Pregnancy Centre. Thank you for your continued support of this important life-giving ministry.

Children’s Ministry Volunteer Paperwork If you are an adult who helps out in nursery, junior church, Sunday school, Awana, Quest, or Impact, we must update your volunteer file each year. Be sure to go to the office today to take care of this. This is a requirement for our insurance coverage so please make this a priority.

Sonshiners Event All seniors are invited to attend the Sonshiners event on Thursday, October 18th at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mark will be our speaker and we will enjoy the musical talents of Julie Klassen and Jody Douglas Laporte. Special feature will be Bill Coombes and his amazing mystery picture show. The cost is $7 person to be paid upon arrival. A hot meal will be served at noon. Sign up today. You don’t want to miss out!

Baptism Class & Service A baptism service is planned for October 28th with a mandatory baptism class for all candidates scheduled for Wednesday, October 17th at 6:30 p.m. If you feel the Lord’s leading in this area, please contact the church office and you will receive important information to help you prepare.

Membership Class & Service At Peoples Church we believe that belonging to a local congregation is important for your spiritual health and the health of the church of Jesus Christ. There is no organization in the world that does not have some system of belonging. We believe the Bible teaches a system of belonging for the local body of believers. As such, a membership service will take place on Sunday, November 18th. If you wish to become a member, please pick up a membership manual from the rack outside the nursery, and pick up an application in the church office or fill it out online. A mandatory class for all candidates is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7th at 6:30 p.m.

Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Boxes Shoe boxes are once again available for us to bless a child who otherwise might not receive a gift this Christmas. Please take as many boxes as you would like to fill. Consider including all members of your family when shopping and packing your boxes. It’s a great way to spend time together while blessing others!

Busy Hands The Busy Hands sewing group normally meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be this Thursday, October 11th at 9:00 a.m. Come when you can, leave when you must. Remember to bring a bagged lunch.

Non-Scents Some in our congregation are allergic to perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, and other strong scents. In consideration of those who suffer adverse effects to these scents, such as asthma attacks, the church family is asked to please refrain from using any scents so as not to hinder a fellow brother or sister from worshipping with us.

Winter Gear for Students While winter is several months down the road, we wanted to let you know that we will be collecting winter gear, including mittens, toques, scarves, socks, and coats for students at Lambton College some time in October. This is through our missions worker, Doug Thomson, who oversees The Rock on Campus ministry as chaplain at Lambton College. For those of you who are knitters, here is an opportunity to use your skills to bless international and domestic students at the college who may not be able to afford to purchase proper winter gear.

Getting Connected If you regularly attend Peoples Church and would like a church mailbox or to receive church family emails, please contact the office. These are great ways to stay informed of what is going on in our church family. Please also contact the office if you would like a set of offering envelopes.
